1ac is either brooch or broach. I can't decide which way to parse this one. To bring up in conversation is spelt broach but the decorative pin can be spelt both ways. Can anyone put me out of my misery?

I've just opened my Times, the clue is

"In conversation,start discussing what has a catch" (6)

I would guess "in conversation" implies "sounds like" so answer would be "brooch" otherwise clue is not cryptic.

Thanks to you both. That was my instinct but not fully convinced. However, I think I'll go with brooch.
