Apart from "stuff and nonsense" did the quiz setter give any further clue as to answer expected ? e.g. all answers are materials or other words for nonsense ?

Cotswold sheep were crossed with Hampshires to produce Oxford Downs - famous for their wool.

1. This one won't fall far from the tree (6)
2. It's a shame ecru can be disguised as a soft, satin material (9)
3, It was so sheer you could see her olive skin (5)
4. You'll need a thick cushion to make this seat (7)

3. might be voile - anagram of olive ? I can't see the anagram indicator though!

1. Russet is an apple and a material ??? I'll leave it to you - I think quiz setters should test out their quizzes on family and friends before inflicting them on the public.
