Like a lot of people, I should imagine, I've struggled with this week's offering. I have completed it, with many reservations, the main two being these:-
6A - "Red dwarf" - I have B-S-F-L and would
imagine the answer to be "BASHFUL" but cannot
see why!
27D - "Lotd's endless when visiting school" -
I have "S-E-C-". Surely the answer is
"SPEECH"? This would seemingly be "PEE"(R)
inside of "SCH" (school)but where's the inference in the clue to "SPEECH"?

Hi Paul,

If your bashful, you go red with embarrassment, and Bashful was one of the 7 Dwarfs

Yes, my soul typo - I meant that to be "Lord's"!

By the way, the "soul" spelling was deliberate!

Hmmm, nothing coming to mind apart from stench or sketch, neither of which make much sense. How confident are you of the letters you have already?

Thanks, Les40 and Chald. I thought the "red" bit might be correct but had associated "BASHFUL" more with "SHY". But, basically, I had forgotten my 7 dwarves!
With regard to "SPEECH", Samak, the three
answers going across would seem to be OK, and I can only tie the answer I have with a speech that may be made in the House of Lords, but that seems too weak to be correct.

Yes, stench would be more appropriate for the House of Lords :-)

How about Spence ?
Lord Spencer endless (I think there's a Lord Spencer) and Spence is an old school in New York.
Also a bit tenuous but I'm struggling here.
