Sorry for delay in acknowledgement but I fell asleep! I don't see how 'on the spot' fits the wordplay.

Just realised I have misquoted the clue! The end should read "a politician so put!", with no last "out".

The only thing that bothers me about the answer "on the spot" is that it intersects with 7/27A) which I make Weak Spot. Would they have the same word Spot, interconnecting in two seperate answers?
