Hi...

"Number ten has amazing influence at last in Asia" = anaesthesia, an anagram of ten/has/e/asia. The root clue must be 'influence' so why begin the clue with 'number' as it doesn't 'do' anything?

"Nameless American cattle" = yak.

"Flight of geese pelt round base" = skein. I think I may have asked this before - why does e=base?

"Head Office vote in 101 old people in Greece" = hoi polloi which is HO/poll/ioi. Hoi polloi are the common people - why 'old people in Greece'??

Many thanks.

Hi PS,

'to numb' = 'to reduce sensation'.

Yank - n = yak

"Hoi Polloi" is a Greek phrase.

Number is the definition -- something which numbs.

Nameless American cattle -- Yank minus the 'n' = yak

Sorry, missed one...

'e' is a special transcendental number used in mathematics; for example, other numbers can be stated 'to the base e'. Our decimal system is 'base 10'.

Hi Bullfrog.

I'm a 2-finger typist and seem to have trouble hitting the keys in the right order, usually!

Probably, I just refreshed the webpage earlier than you and had longer to think about Pooksahib's questions.
