Good norning friends!

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm BST (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Pick six to carry our stars outside (9)
2. Causes hums to be heard (6)
3. Press baron deserts prurient mob on a building (9)
4. The way goose is cooked inside the can (8)
5. Tip! Stand behind that woman. She’s crazy (10)

Happy solving!

Thanks Tont, Ixion and Peterm for taking part. It's not easy solving "cold" and I meant to make 'em a wee bit harder (from time to time).

What can I say? Brilliant solving and really comprehensive explanations of the wordplay. Thank you very much.

... Tony
meant to ask. Do you find them very easy to solve or does it take a wee while? You seem to always be spot-on.

I had the most trouble with No 1 and for a time I was pondering the double SHE in backsheesh until I realised you had clued it very cleverly.
As for no 4 my good old Bradford gave me hoosegow under 'prison'.

You clueing style reminds me of Tim Moorey of Mephisto etc. and I wondered if you had attended one of his crossword setting seminars?

Well done again.

Hi Jolan

All day thinking only produced one answer, to the first clue. And that was after going all round the galaxy, lol.

Now I see the answers I am so in awe of your clueing.

Will be away for the next 2 weeks, but please still be here when I get back.

xx
