Our local monthly quiz is all about people with identical initials (David Dimbleby, Christopher Columbus, Marilyn Monroe, etc.) We have got all but four out of the one hundred, but are stymied on these;-

1) Technically speaking, Mr. Edwards should not fall into this category, but he was always controversial - particularly with the National Anthem.
2) What is his name? A handbag?
3) Two men - same name - both goalkeepers for England - born three years apart.
4) Respect for Big Brother - I doubt it!

Any help would really be appreciated.
Many thanks.

I think the second one could be "Guccio Gucci" who founded the Gucci empire (Handbags, etc.?)

This list is supposed to be all of the England goalkeepers since the year dot, but I don't see two people with the same names in there.

A bit of a stab in the dark...

1) Eddie Edwards, a wrestler who had his mike grabbed (stop tittering) by someone, who then sang his own Nat' Athem. I think.

I've never heard of him, but I am allergic to sport.

Hi John (of Arran).

In had a look at the list you linked and noticed that these 2 goalkeepers with identical initials were born 3 years apart:

Henry Hardy (born 1895)
Frederick Fox (born 1898).

Not sure if this brings the answer any closer!

Maybe it's another sport, such as hockey, or some sort of horrible cryptic clue?

Best Wishes.

Hi Trevor.

I had been trying to see why Eddie the Eagle Edwards might fit the first clue, but have so far failed.

Best Wishes.

I've been puzzling over that one Jim and can't see how it works. It does say 'two men, same name', unless it's just sloppy question-setting. I have to admit to doing the same search, finding the same list, and doing a search for hockey keepers too. Great minds!

And yes Jim, I've been googling Eddie The Eagle as well!

Hi JimC,
I was thinking Eddie the Eagle Edwards, when I saw this other bloke.

Doesn't seem to be much about him on the web, and I am a bit vague about the facts...

probably best to ignore me.
