I am looking for a novel published in the 1830's where much of the action takes place at sea, and one of the main characters is called "Hawkins".

P.S This is not Treasure Island (Jim Hawkins) which was published much later in 1883.

I think that could be Peter Simple by Frederick Marryat. Fairly sure there was a Captain Hawkins in that. Published mid 1830s.
