OK,I'll answer myself,just to save you guys any further bother.Presume the answer is GEEL,a town actually in Belgium---at least "e's" in Gel=grease!Or is anyone cleverer?Over and out...

Rubbish,mjp!To continue my conversation with myself:it's obviously OEIL,French for "eye",thence the pun,and E in OIL!Well,we all live and learn,sometimes even without aid.Sorry to bore you,but it did take a few hours till the proverbial flash came this time.Thanx,mjp.

No - I think I've got it. Oeil - Say I. Eye in french is oeil. e in oil. Like it?
