Having seen you both answering Jintys' question I couldn't help noticing the possibility of a certain symbiosis being struck up between you?!

Hi Lucifer Sam;

Since no-one seems to have got the reference it's just that a Lucifer is an old word for a match, thereby striking it could lead to a good relationship with a pipe smoker!

When I first heard the phrase "a lucifer to light your fag" (from a World War I song - "Pack up your troubles....") I mis-heard it as "a Lucy for to light your fag" so I thought a match was a "Lucy" (presumably a "red-head"). Just thought I'd mention it. Wish I hadn't bothered now.
