the rubber bit you hold on any golf club is called the grip. can be thick,thin,dimpled,ribbed whatever, probably makes no difference to most people. I have carefully avoided using any apostrophes.

It does not really explain the clue though(see no apostrophes).I know golf clubs have grips but I was looking for something a bit more cryptic,such as all the clubs in a hand of cards is called a grip,or all the clubs in a set of golf clubs is called a grip.Oh well.
