Good morning folks!

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm BST (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Good golfers may do it vociferously (9)
2. Obsessed with only one idea, a Cretan monk ordered the man to leave (3-5)
3. Bent story books (6)
4. Put out about hog being transported to a place of disgrace (8)
5. Superstitious relations and long-standing union members have picked up tails (3,5,5)

Happy solving (on a lovely peaceful site)!

No. 2.
Although IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO THE CLUE OR SOLUTION I would have preferred to use the words "a single" in place of "one". This is just a 'picky' criticism of me by me.

2. Obsessed with only a single idea, a Cretan monk ordered the man to leave (3-5)

I note that dictionaries cannot agree on the use of hyphens in 2 & 4 so I'm going with Chambers.

My suggestions are-

1) Wholesome - good
A homophone (indicated by vociferously) of 'holes some'

2) One-track - obsessed
anag (ordered) CRETAN MONK less MAN

3) Talent - bent
TALE (story) NT (New Testament/books)

4) Doghouse - place of disgrace
DOUSE (put out) about anag(transported) HOG

5) Old Wives Tales - Superstitions
OLD WIVES (long standing union members)
TALES (sounds like 'picked up') tails

Brill Tony. All spot-on and superbly clear explanations. . Apropos your earlier posting, I use Chambers as my base reference.

Thanks also AJT. I'm sure you got 'em all.

My answers all concur with Tony's. How about:

Superstitious relations and long-standing union members have heard caudal appendages (3,5,5)

for number 5.
