I'm stuck on a couple. 20d Jacket at the heart of the matter. (7) I've got ????L?N. Also 24ac Author's fire in the auditorium.(5) I've got S???U but I'm not sure about the U. Any thoughts, anybody?

Looks like it could be DOUBLET and the last N is wrong.

jill, my wordfinder only shows DOUBLET or COUPLET for the given letters. A doublet is a type of jacket but I don't see where 'the heart of the matter' fits in. Cheers, Andy

maybe Shute is wrong. I can only see Jacket as being Doublet but not the rest of the clue.

Thanks jill and terry, it seems obvious now.....is it just me or are the main Herald crosswords getting harder and the Wee Stinker getting slightly easier? Cheers, Andy
