The clue is:- In full R Benaud is out (6)

I have D?N?B? & I think the answer has to be DANUBE. But why?

"R" for River ---- Danube ?

Could it be that "R" is an abbreviation for River and that by having River in full, it gives a clue to the anagram being Danube ?
