25D. a soldier,for one,repeatedly used in man-to-man tussles[3]
'Ant' fits the bill but I cannot get the gist of the clue. 'ant' in the man-to man tussle I can see but where does that fit with 'a soldier for one'
Got any ideas out there?

There are Ants called soldier ants.

there is an ant called a Soldier Ant...and as stated in the threads above it is used (embedded) twice in "man to man tussles"
