Good Morning Guys and Gals

I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm BST (GMT+1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Without salt and healthy at last one can certify (6)
2. Stood and showered without 'em (8)
3. Stumped by a novice, caught by a lob (2,1,4)
4. At present it lessens the need for unusual retaining terms (8)
5. Screw led as cons cut for the nine of diamonds (5,2,8)

The last one “may” require a few letters (after 5)! I'm sure I'll regret saying this!!

Hi Jolan, Yippee. I've got two, maybe three. Haven't a clue about number 5. Which means I've probably got none!!! But hay-ho, I'm happy on planet me. Keep them coming Jolan.

Good for you, Barrycat.
I considered the last one a bit unfair (without some letters) BUT it IS in Chambers and it IS in the clue. So we'll see! See you after 5. Jolan

It's not unfair at all Jolan. Some call it Stinking Billy but I prefer Sweet William.

Thanks for the clues Jolan. My answers -
1) NOTARY -one can certify -
NO (without) TAR (salt)Y (healthy at last)

2) REMAINED -Stood - RAINED (showered)without
(outside) 'EM

3) At A Loss -Stumped - A L (learner/novice)
caught by A TOSS (lob)

4) ENTITLES - Terms - Hidden in the clue
at presENT IT LESsens

5) CURSE OF SCOTLAND - Nine of diamonds
anagram(screwed) 'led as cons cut for'

The only comment I have on your otherwise excellent clues is that I thought the surface reading of No 4 was rough. Also am I right in assuming that 'retaining' is the 'hidden clue' indicator?
