That gives me an R in 3rd position for
2. - - R - - - R

It also gives me a B in a 4th clue, which is: Ledger record, in seconds added fever about his stardom.(5) - - B - -
I had penciled in HEATH - being heat/fever and in 2 Hs. I didn't like it, and B ruins it. Any ideas there?

Terry, DEBIT is brilliant - a new way of looking at clues for me! But it ruins SOPPY as places D in last position for:
1. Romantic Interloper to hold driver's licence - - - - D
