cryptic clues not letters given.
1. Animal trees. Thought it could be monkey puzzle or cowtree - cannot tell my trees from shrubs at the moment.
Many thanks

Well a monkey puzzle is definitely a tree, not too sure about the second one though. Funnily enough the scientific name for monkey puzzle is arucaria, who is also a crossword setter!

Are there lots of trees in the "animal trees" category or just one tree to be found.
Does the quiz setter give your the number of letters needed.

OK - well monkey puzzle tree is it's full title but you'll know best how the quiz setters mind works. By the way I got the book out again and there is a cow tree because is exudes a white milky latex substance - I thought you were having us on !
I'll keep going but later on...sink full of dishes!

Hi "treefairy"
been through the book again and can only come up with monkey-puzzle and horse-chestnut (both with hyphens in my book). Cowtrees seem to grow in tropical rainforests and it seems to be a name given to all the species of trees which give out the white milky substance. Dogwood and buckthorns are shrubs. Good Luck with your quiz. J
