I downloaded the online Mephisto (I'm still trying to get to grips with it) and the online version seems to be a different beast from the one Jerry and Alan have been discussing. For example the online 27 Ac. is as follows:

27 Camp entry with new date agreed (11)

Isn't it mystifying enough without this?

Hi Jerry,
Glad Alan liked the clue to 1/10. I am still wondering what the hell it is about!!!! I shall be in UK next Sunday (God help me!!!) For the present am up the creek without a paddle, comme d'habitude, but when I am not socialising tomorrow perhaps I shall have more luck!!
Regards
Bob

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for 6a, which seems to have helped me finish this. I don't really have a good explanation for 7d though, which I assume ends in S. I can see the trousers with the first letter missing, but 'veteran retreats' ?

I'll also be missing for two weekends, starting with your second week away. We're going north too, as far as the Land of the Midnight Sun and our cruise ship will have a lot more than 600cc !

Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
LARES is the Spenserian version of LAIR hence a
veteran retreat.
Have a good time and don't get too crapulous.
Very best wishes,
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for explaining LARES ! I saw your Azed posting, for which thanks - I too didn't get the Mistress Quickly link, although I did finish (I think) the Azed unaided for a change.

Regards,
Alan
