Philosopher's trick to pen school lines (7)

Is it Russell? I can't work out why. Lines gives two Ls at the end - but the rest? Grateful for any enlightenment on this.

Trick is a ruse, s for school, then lines.

ruse to "pen" ie hold school (s)+ lines ll = russell - philosopher?

Russell. Ruse is the trick, S for school, LL for lines. = Bertrand Russell, philosopher.
