22 down=it would be awful to ride off..?i?e and 23 down...and finally gallop until lou dismounts=?l?s (both 4 letter words)x

Aye, Beth, ye're right enough. Ride is an anagram of dire, and the last letters of gallop until lou drops spell out plus.
