Now its late in the month, can anyone confirm my last two answers.

1d This setter has the Italian equivalent of appellation controlee (4)

Is this Medoc minus the C - and entered as DEMO?

2d As far as for all to see, nothing (2,2) Is it UP TO?

I can see for all to see U(niversal) and O - nothing - but can't quite get the rest.

Both are right, as is your parsing of 2dn. The Special Instructions mean that P or T (ie 18ac)are ignored in the subsidiary part of the clue.

That explains 31ac - only clueing for IE and Y

I've obviously stumbled throught this crossword, without fully understanding it!
