I think that one's "behest" but I'm not confident enough to put it in because it doesn't help me solve 20d.

Means behest can't be correct for 29a. hmmm.

24ac Is an unusual 4 letter word = nothing, followed by usual abbreviation of left.

I actually perfer comments on a previous Guardian request where the clue is solved rather than another set of iritating clues I also have a similar range of letters which make very little sense.

9 across is driving me mad! Any clues, please.
