Last one in ST 4427 and although it's only a four letter word(!),am still foxed. The clue is Favourable slant about cuts and I've got N?P?.

Can only assume it's nape or napa but haven't a clue why.

nips. Spin (favourable slant) backwards.

SPIN is NIPS cuts

The word is nips - turn it round you have spin - favourable slant
