Think I've finished it but I don't know how.
25d is "Career girl obtains a little work". Answer E#G can only be EGG but why.

18d "It suggests 'e' is an intellectual" E#G#E#D must be EGGHEAD. Again why. Anyone else think the Daily Mail has a new crossword author these days?

I can only think that "e", as the first letter of egg, = egghead. But I agree that it is weak!

I assume that I have now completed the puzzle correctly. Do not know what word you finally put for 25d but I inserted ERG which is an unit of force and is in the clue.
