cryptic telegraph toughie
routines given away by french monk keeping reverence up?

8 letters ------a-e possible 2nd letter r but not too sure its driving me mad can anyone help

French monk - frere. reverence - awe.
This would give us freeware. I am trying to make this mean "routines". Perhaps, as a computer programme, it could be described so.

On further consideration, it must be freeware. A routine is a pattern of doing something, and that is what a freeware programme is.
