I know it makes one of your other letters wrong and I can't explain 2nd half of clue.
Actually you should probably ignore this post.

Morbid is connected with disease, a torus is an anatomical term for a bulging or rounded projection or swelling. (Stop sniggering at the back!) Is that any help?

I'll try and shoehorn this answer a bit more.

io - can stand for "Instead of".
Instead of, at a push, might possibly mean - despite.

Anagram of Torus with io inside. Hurrah!! only it still doesn't fit the given letters. Oh well.

Hi.

I think the answer might be RHOMBOID ('ho'=laughter inside anag of 'morbid'). A rhomboid is a sort of parallelogram shape.

I thought of that as an answer but it was a letter too long (with a wrong letter) and the title of the thread is "Laughter".

I think it has to be the right answer tho.

I think it could be right. Liz put an extra underscore after the clue to make a longer answer word, so probably had editing problems when she posted.
