22 ac Perhaps an oil-rich ruler's rock by the sound of it (6)

s?e?k? Could be sheikh - maybe sheiks - have been through list of rocks and minerals for "sounds likes" but nothing leaps out. Any help appreciated.

I think I was too quick in bowing to your superior knowledge ! "shake" doesn't fit the correct no of letters (6) or the pattern of letters - decided to go for "sheika" - the chief wife or consort of a sheikh or sheik - just posting in case anyone else is doing the crossword

I'd just go for sheikh - sound like shake

Thank you "dot" - that was my original idea - perhaps the sheikh's wife is his rock? There is always at least one clue is this monthly crossword that could be an either or.

Oil rich ruler is Sheikh - Rock is Shake - so no need to involve wives!
