I set crossies just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few of my clues? Since they're new, no letters!

1. Apostates and some children, e.g., erstwhile troublemakers (8)
2. Remote control of late, soon cutting off on set (5)
3. A backward child in pursuit of live parties (6)
4. Come by, use lots, then go away and stay away! (3,4)
5. Teetotaller's position in bottle from where control is exercised (5, 6)

Please don’t post the answers until 5 p.m. Gives those interested a chance to solve.

I know I've 4 (1 to 4) and think I've got 5. But like last week I don't seem to be using all of the clue. For no5 I have a perfectly plausible answer but the first word of the clue is meaningless to me. I'll try and post as soon after 5.00pm as I can and if I'm right you can explain it to me.

My day out was curtailed by the wet weather. Have just got back and managed to solve 4 of the 5
1. Renegers (hidden in the clue)
2. Aloof (anagram of of late soon - less on set)
3. No answer yet !
4. Get lost - come by = get + anagram of lots
5. Nerve Centre (Teatotallers = TT - position in Bo(tt)le = Centre - Bottle also means Nerve
(I like this one)

1. renegers.

3. beanos.
4. get lost.
5. nerve centre?
