Hiya terry,
I'm at college now trying to master the linking thing,
the tutor is trying to help me, we can do it on Word, but can't seem to suss it out on the forum.
If its not too much trouble
could you run through the instructions again.
Just so I don't have to keep pasting long addresses in the threads.
Cheers

Les

<a href="ADDRESS"target=_blank> get it here

Hi les
if you copy the above and paste it into your post.
replace the word ADDRESS with the full address (including http:// etc) it should work.
as long as i haven't made a mistake.

Hi.

It is probably best to leave a single blank space immediately before the 'target=_blank' bit (although the computer may process it out correctly anyhow).

read it here

Same again but a little bit simpler.the 1st example should open on a new page.this won't(holding down the shift key when you click the link does that in my browser).

just remember that the full address(url)must go between the quote marks.
best of luck.

Hi Trevor.

I like better that what you posted in post #5, above (ie without 'target=_blank'), as I don't like other people opening new browsers or tabs for me without warning. The user can decide to open a new browser window - by holding down the Shift key & left-clicking the link (as you suggest).

However, my preference is to just right-click a link and choose myself how to open it (usually in a new tab in the same browser window).

No Power to the People!

I know my place. Compared to you two I am to IT skills what Larry Grayson was to all-in wrestling.

Right guys,
I'm back and I've printed out the posts to follow the instructions.
So trevor, on post 3 where you place the word blank between the underline sign and the greater than sign, does that mean I type the word blank or I leave a blank space.
Or am I better following the instructions on post 5 as JimC suggests.
You havn't scared me off just yet.
Let me know and I will attempt to make the link
