G'day all

8ac: Not the present form-filler (6) ?r???t
2dn: Droll aspects of a situation involves acknowledgement of debt (9) ???e?i??s

And while I'm here, would 21ac 'Against poetry being on the radio'(6) be 'verses' or 'versus' And why?!

Thanks heaps!

versus - "on the radio" is a "sounds like" indicator

@ixion - thanks: I live and learn!

facetious - thanks x 2. I also remember facetious is the shortest English word with the five vowels in the right order.

Truant.
A truant would not be present in class or form as it is known in England

I think it is truant. a form-filler = schoolchild sitting at desk (form). if not present is a truant.
