I could use some help on two clues; 11d.Flock,say,waits,not changing direction (11,two words)The letters I have are ?EF?S?S?AYS.
25a In Ayr not straight,one there filled with bits
of gory elaboration(4)?GE? Might it be OGEE?
If so the E sits betwixt the F&S of 11D.
Any assistance gratefully received>

Jerry,

I've not started the Meph yet but, I think, REFUSES WAYS might (tenuously) fit 11d.

Refuses = Flock (wool refuse).
Ways = sounds like weights.
Refuses ways = Choosing not to go in several directions.

Hi Jerry

I reckon that 25a is AGEE (Scots word for 'off the straight'; alternative spelling is AJEE).

I second AGEE as "AE" is Scots for one (as in "Ae Fond Kiss") and GE is bits of "Glory Enabled".

Of course that should have been "Gory Elaboration".

I like AGEE. It makes REFUSES WAYS wrong, if I understand the juxtapositions correctly, though it never seemed quite right so all's well.

Hi Jim,

No, REFUSES WAYS fits with AGEE. In fact, I only solved AGEE after seeing your solution for 11d !

Isn't there now an E between the F & S of 11 down?

Confused.

Hi Jim,

No, it's between the two S's in REFUSES.
