I have finished the crossword, but there is one that I got purely through the definition and I am still totally puzzled by the clue:

4d: Memorial film on canines, for example (6)

I got "Plaque" (for memorial), but have no idea how "film on canines, for example" gets me there.

If someone can explain would surely help me in solving the next Paul.

Thanks in anticipation.

Canines refers to canine teeth. Plaque is a "film" on teeth. Memorial is another meaning of the word.

A really well crafted clue.
