could the other one be Jupiter? It's a heavenly body with the correct number of letters and presumably the correct first letter, given "Jacobean", but I don't really see how it fits the clue

it could be Jumper, minus the M and plus 'it' for sex-appeal, perhaps.
Mind, I don't see how removing M equates to 'nit half'

Jean with a cob is probably good. Jupiter also sounds fine - it is not half of jumper?
