flummoxed

Sorry to harp back but there are 2 clues I'm not happy with
53A Singers up in circle tittle (9) S_P_R_I_N
The only thing that seems to fit is SUPERSIGN but it's not in my Chambers Dictionary and what has it to do with tittle?
79D What jalopy will do. Pile up (4) _E_P
Is it LEIP? Again what's that to do with jalopies?

Tittle is the term for marks like the dots in i or j. They are written above, so "supersign"

Thanks so much for comments. Still not 100% convinced. I thought dots etc written above were superscript, I've never actually heard of supersign. Is it in a more modern Chambers than mine? Heap sounds good but is it 'what jalopy will do'? It's always wee annoying clues that bug you not the mega anagrams round the perimeter!
