I've just come to that conclusion, Silly Boy ... but its not a good clue is it?

There should be some definition for Merc on its own.

The clue has been wrongly transcribed. I can't remember the exact wording, but the definition definitely was a reference to a car.

There was a sense of déjà vu about these clues.
