Hi Shona
Is it definately 5 letters, as Foetor would fit the wordplay, and it means unpleasant smell?

Checked the paper, definitely shown as 5 letters - BUT I think it's a mistake as the sixth letter(ie from an across clue) is/would be R,and FOETOR would fit perfectly! I'm going to put it in.

The online version shows 6 letters so foetor is fine
