Thanks Helena and Joker, now what about all the others any ideas there? Were either of you able to complete it? I found it very difficult this year. I have several more clues that I need help with but am working on one section at a time.

the football benchmark one.......twelve.

substitutes were first allowed in the 1965/66 season. For the following two seasons only one was allowed,i.e. the sub would be number 12. nowadays they seem to have as many as they like.

the last one...... ciaran clark.

He is an english born footballer and plays for aston villa. He recently opted to play for ireland as an international ( the usual granny rules or whatever). I supposed this makes him a villian in some eyes.
