Thank you! I had all 3 of these answers pencilled in but could not understand the cryptic reasoning; please enlighten me if you don't mind.

theta- dry is tt (teetotal), explosive is he (high explosive) and a

put he in tt and finish with a

elegant- anagram of ten gale (force being indicator of anagram)

tinselled- 32 is tree. money is tin, player expected to do well- seed
pens lines has two lls in

Thanks for that concise explanation.

The only criticism I have is the word elegant being used as a substitute for excellent; having said that I had completely missed the anagram - so obvious now!
