'Call children requiring transport., The answer is RING (obviously, call) but what has it got to do with children and transport?

The only thing I can think of is that RIG is slang sometimes used for a lorry. Can't fit in the children connection.

Are you certain the answer is RING? Do you have letters from any other clues.

Like Sammy, I'd also like to know if any of the RING letters come from crossing solutions?

'Ring' has been given on the solutions option of the Guardian crossword (It's not a prize crossword). I don't understand it either ! ;o(

Thanks for your comments. I thought of 'rig' but still didn't help for 'children.' RING is definitely the correct answer.

Could it be that "children requiring" is transporting,i.e. carrying as a hidden word "ring" which means "call". "Transporting" is merely the trigger to identify a hidden word is what you are looking for.

I think it may be something to do with "ring routes" for buses taking children to school. Extremely obscure if it is.

I wondered whether it had anything to do with offspring but couldn't see the connection there either.

I think this relates to a system of 'ring and ride' - see http://www.buryfocus.co.uk/sites/ring-and-ride. Thanks for all the suggestions.
