16 down :clue is Son - er - Phineas (6 letters)
I have ?a?n?m and I'm thinking Barnum... but can't work out why. Can anyone help please?

Well all I can see is 'UM' = 'ER', maybe Barn sounds like Bairn??

I was thinking the same thing, but just felt it was a bit of stretch to go from son to bairn to barn

thanks Douglas, I already had the answer, and I know the P in PT Barnum stands for Phineas I was wondering how the rest of the clue related to the answer

Hi Douglas and big red. I think barn in Swedish or Norwegian means child.

Hi bigred. Looking up some other sources for barn, and seems to be used for child or son. I suppose child can be son or daughter.
