flummoxed

One slang word for kipper is marijuana

Deep trench name is Mariannas

Perhaps a bit too tenuous a connection?

As you may guess I`m clutching at straws now on my very last clue. Can anyone please put me out of my misery!!

That will give you the first three letters. Then you need to add a word meaning "cavity" although that's actually very tenuous. Better to think of the name of a dictionary widely used by crossword compilers and remove the last "S".
