A couple today if you don't mind...

"Portion's cut to an acceptable level" = 'P-R'.

"Stiff silk's yellow - normal in Middle East strip" = 'organza'. 'N' in the middle of 'gaza' is plain, it's the 'or' I'm struggling with.

By the by - why all the posts called "Put your house in order". Is this the name of some newspaper quiz or something?

Many thanks.

I think the 1st one is 'par' as in par(t).

Hello pooksahib.
"or" means gold in French (palm d'or. etc), I guess that yellow can be gold.

p.s. Although - OR is fairly common, I don't think I've seen "N" for "Normal" in a clue before.

re "Put your house in order" take a look here

some clues seem to get asked/answered countless times, but it is a charity, and quite fun.

Pooky - it's an online quiz that's the talk of the town!

Not my cup of tea, but some of the questions have caused a few headaches.

Isn't that just typical? You go away and check out all your facts before posting and when you get back someone has beaten you to it.

Good evening, Trevor.

Hi Big Dave,
Sorry about that.
As far as I can tell, all the clues have been answered but a lot will be asked again. I quite like that. Sometimes I see one that I answered straight away and now can't get.
all the best, trevor
